Having a low GI, oats can keep you feeling full longer and it steadies blood glucose levels
Packed with beta glucan, oats are fabulous for the heart, because it reduces cholesterol
Oat fibre nourishes the good bacteria living in our gut and helps keeps you regular
Oats are safe for IBS sufferers
With so many toppings, oats are never boring. One of my favourites is adding a few raisins, chopped walnuts and a sprinkle cinnamon.
I love using oats in cooking too – I replace breadcrumbs with oats in meat loaf & rissole. I also substitute 1/2 cup of flour with 1/2 cup of oats in my fruit loaf & muffin recipes.
