Its spring! Signs of new life appear on plants, flowers are blooming, bees are humming, birds are singing and the weather is warmer. Spring is a time for new life and rejuvenation. A time to clean up old habits which are not meeting your health needs and develop health oriented habits. Its time to bounce back into life. Here are some tips to get you started:
Plan daily time outside in the sunshine to soak up some vitamin D from the sun. After winter, our vitamin D levels tend to drop. Just 10 - 15 mins a day is enough to top them up again. Sunlight also helps elevate mood through the production of serotonin, a mood lifting hormone. A few minutes in the morning or afternoon is enough to make a difference. Otherwise plan to have your lunch outside.
While you are enjoying the outdoors, take the opportunity to go for a walk and enjoy nature. Start to think about commiting to some regular physical activity. What activities do you enjoy doing? What times do you have available? Do you need to enlist an exercise buddy?
