Heart Week 1-7 may 2016

Seven easy tips to boost your heart health during National Heart Week.

  1. Eat more fruit and vegetables! Go for 2 pieces of fruit and 5 serves of vegetables per day.
  2. Choose wholegrain cereals such as oats, barley, wholegrain bread, natural muesli. Avoid eating refined carbohydrates.
  3. Enjoy fish twice a week.
  4. Take some legumes. Check out my recipe section for a delicious lentil bolognaise sauce perfect for pasta.
  5. Use olive oil and seasonal avocadoes. Limit foods high in saturated fats found in animal fats such as processed meats, as well as palm and coconut oils. Saturated fats cause high blood cholesterol levels.
  6. Enjoy a daily walk outside during autumn.
  7. Quit smoking.
