Awesome health benefits of oats

Let me share why I just love using oats:

  • Oats are cheap - for around $2 / 500g pack of rolled oats you can feed the family breakfast all week

  • Having a low GI, oats can keep you feeling full longer and it steadies blood glucose levels

  • Packed with beta glucan, oats are fabulous for the heart, because it reduces cholesterol

  • Oat fibre nourishes the good bacteria living in our gut and helps keeps you regular

  • Oats are safe for IBS sufferers

  • With so many toppings, oats are never boring. One of my favourites is adding a few raisins, chopped walnuts and a sprinkle cinnamon.

  • I love using oats in cooking too - I replace breadcrumbs with oats in meat loaf & rissole. I also substitute 1/2 cup of flour with 1/2 cup of oats in my fruit loaf & muffin recipes.
